As a woman-owned business, there’s nothing that inspires us more than seeing other women take up excelling in business and life, despite our differences. Thankfully, the focus of Women’s History Month this year did that and more. Here are a few of our favorite ads and commercials from brands that recognized the power of women. Although some have perceived these ads to be radically liberal, these ads reveal that our society is moving towards embracing gender equality.

Nike (as always).

The Nike “Dream Crazier” ad encourages women to dream big and push the limits that have traditionally been in place. It targeted the double standards that women, especially athletes, face everyday.

Gillete.

The controversial Gillette “We Believe: The Best Men Can Be” commercial targets toxic masculinity and encourages men to challenge traditional mindsets that “boys will be boys.” It received a lot of backlash but that just shows how far our society has to go until we embrace ideals of gender equality.

Did you know that women drive 70-80% of all consumer purchasing, through their buying power and influence. Their influence alone holds a lot of power through social media. Here are a few ideas for how your business can give women the honor and accolades that they deserve during Women’s History Month:

1. Celebrate your female employees on your social media accounts. Do you have female employees or business partners who make a difference in your business, or who have overcome obstacles in their own lives that would inspire others? Tell their stories on your blog, website or social media sites.

2. Ask your clients or social media followers to share their stories of triumphant women. These stories can be about women who helped their careers, who inspired them or women they know who overcame adversity. Feature some of your favorite stories in a blog post.

3. Host a fundraiser for a women’s charity. This is a way to go a step beyond donating and get the whole community involved. If you have limited resources, consider doing an online fundraiser through social media.

As you can see, there are numerous ways that your business can celebrate Women’s History Month. How does your business celebrate Women’s History Month?
